Kabataan urges public not to take PNoy’s visit to MILF camp at face value

Kabataan Partylist second nominee Bai Ali Indayla has urged the public to treat with scrutiny the planned visit of President Benigno Aquino III to the main camp of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) this Monday to launch Sajahatra Bangsamoro, a set of government assistance to identified MILF communities.

“The visit is sure to get the attention of Filipinos especially those who follow the peace process. But we call on the public not to get carried away easily,” Indayla said.

Indayla said Ghadzali Jaafar, MILF vice chairman for political affairs, is right in calling the event “merely symbolic”.

Anakpawis Representative Rafael Mariano the poorest solon while Manny Pacquiao richest

Anakpawis Rep. Rafael Mariano is the poorest member of the House of Representatives while world boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is the richest.

Rep. Mariano noted in his 2011 statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) assets amounting to P46,946.73. Mariano had no liabilities last year.

The top five poorest congressmen in terms of net worth, including Mariano, were all party-list representatives. They are: Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casiño (P91,000), Kabataan Rep. Raymond Palatino (P195,000), Kalinga Rep. Abigail Faye Ferriol (P483,006.30), and Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares (P697,701).

Aquino should stop being a ‘doomsayer’ – Youth partylist

The Kabataan partylist on Sunday criticized President Noynoy Aquino for presenting a “doomsday scenario” regarding the impact of the North Korean rocket testing on the Philippine archipelago.

“Stop being a doomsayer, Mr. President,” Kabataan Partylist spokesperson Atty. Terry Ridon told Aquino in a statement.

Ridon said Aquino is only speculating when he warned that rocket fragments may land on Philippine territory.
