President Aquino’s tour to Great Britain this June 4 to 6 will just be another junket that will bring no benefit to the Filipino people. From there, Aquino will proceed to the US for a state visit.
Philippine presidents traditionally go on foreign trips once elected with two main objectives: to pay a courtesy call to the Big Boss in the White House, and to offer the human and capital resources of the Philippines for exploitation by foreign capitalists.
All previous Philippine presidents without exception have conjured the illusion that foreign investments are the salvation for the country’s underdevelopment and poverty. Nothing is farther from the truth.
